Just this morning, i tried to install the newest one of ATI driver on my ubuntu (fglrx driver). I just don’t realized for what will happend, because i just turn on my notebook on the afternoon.

It is very annoying that i found my notebook can’t reach the splash screen of ubuntu. THe display was freeze and i can’t do anything with my notebook. I am try to figure out what just happened with my lappie. For a few moments, i realized that i just installed this newest thing of fglrx driver, and i made an assumption this thing is the problem.

For everyone who’s getting the same or simmilar problem, this article maybe can be helpful for you.

When you reach GRUB, choose the Recovery Mode of your ubuntu, and then just drop into the root terminal/command line.

Then you just unistall the things that might be your problems. For what i faced, i realized that this fglrx driver is the problem. So i just unsitalled it by using

apt-get remove xorg-driver-fglrx

After that i can nack into my ubuntu again.

My suggestion is, don’t try to install the newest one of fglrx driver. Googling first about the package, might be there are still bugs to be repaired.
